Personal Training to Enhance Male Mental Health
Personal Training for Men's Mental Well-Being in Central London
It’s not uncommon for people to assume exercise is all about physical health, while looking after your mental well-being is something reserved exclusively for therapy specialists. However, science has proven time and time again that effective exercise is of equal benefit to the brain as it is the body.
Exercise isn’t just positive for the here-and-now health of your brain and mind either – studies also show that adults who participate in daily physical activity also have a roughly 20% to 30% lower risk of long-term depression and degenerative conditions like dementia.
If you’d like to explore adding exercise to your routine, we can help. We’ll move at your pace, you’ll have a supporting, dedicated personal trainer, and we’ll celebrate every step you take towards better physical and mental well-being – no matter how large or small.
Mental and Physical Wellbeing: The Links
The number of studies linking physical activity to enhanced mental well-being is overwhelming – but without question, exercise, and often specifically strength training, is proven to:
- Reduce depression and anxiety by releasing mood-boosting endorphins and serotonin.
- Lowers stress levels by reducing cortisol and improving stress management.
- Boost self-esteem by enhancing body image and physical confidence.
- Improve cognitive function by stimulating memory, focus, and brain plasticity.
- Enhance sleep quality by regulating sleep patterns and improving restorative rest.
- Mitigate ADHD symptoms by increasing dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin for improved focus and attention.
We don’t expect you to be in the studio every day, either. Your coach’s dedicated focus means we’ll get more done in two or three sessions than you’d get from five or six days of training elsewhere.
Private Personal Training in Your Own Dedicated Space
Some people thrive in large open gyms – whereas other people prefer the privacy of a smaller, studio space. We find the best outcomes come from private, 1-1 sessions with your own personal trainer in dedicated private space – so that’s how all our studios are set up.
We call this our “pod” system. Each pod has its own equipment – from world-class weights and cardio equipment through to mats, rollers, and even towels. Everything you need for an effective workout.
Of course, privacy also means no feeling over being overlooked while you exercise, no queuing for equipment, and no need to wipe things down before you start. Impeccable presentation and cleanliness standards are the norm.
Consistency, Habit-Building, and Accountability
In theory, exercising to support your mental well-being is simple – it’s just about adding physical exercise to your week. However, that ‘just’ can be a huge challenge – not least because life is extremely busy.
While some people think having a personal trainer is all about pushing yourself harder – we have a different belief. Having a personal trainer makes it far easier to turn exercise into a positive habit. What’s more, it makes consistency far easier too – a couple of enjoyable, encouraging sessions each week over the course of months or years is far better for you than a couple of intense weeks that you struggle to maintain.
Accountability is another huge bonus when it comes to working on physical fitness with a coach. While it’s easy to fall out of the habit of exercise when you only have yourself to report to, this can lead to feelings of failure or the idea you’re “letting yourself down” – but having a personal trainer to encourage you can make a world of difference.
Real People, Real Stories, Real Results
We know personal training can be life-changing – but we don’t expect you to take our word for it. Read more about a real person’s journey with Fitness Lab.
Personal Trainer Fitness Advice That Extends Beyond Our Studios
We hope that your new exercise habit will have a positive effect well beyond the walls of our studios – but, if you feel like it would be helpful to have our input into other areas of health and fitness – we’re always here to help.
Need some advice around improving your diet or making some sustainable swaps with the things you eat? No problem. Would it be helpful if we shared our insight on what makes for good physical rest and great sleep habits? Again, no problem.
Your coach isn’t just good at explaining how to do squats or handle kettlebells, they will be able to talk you through many small but significant lifestyle changes you can make to ensure personal training has the best impact on your mental and physical wellbeing.
No Membership Fees, No Contracts, and No Pressure
We never want our clients to come and workout because they’re paying a membership fee and feel obliged to – so we don’t have one. Nor do we have contracts or recurring monthly payments.
When you train with Fitness Lab, you pay for your sessions and nothing more. This means you can always expect exceptional service from us – as we’re always striving to make sure your sessions represent exceptional value for money.
If you’d like to get a feel for our approach to personal training – you’re welcome to book a consultation. It’s a relaxed, pressure-free way of helping you decide if we’re the kind of service that can help you keep your brain and body in good shape.
