Many gyms and personal training studios take a one-size-fits-all approach to fitness - but we do things differently at Fitness Lab. A woman's body can be very different to a man's, so it's important that a woman's fitness journey is also different.

Our personal trainers understand the unique challenges that come for women when trying to lose weight, tone up, improve fitness levels, or even using exercise to improve mental health. We also have a deep understanding of how health issues unique to women can impact female fitness - and how these challenges can be improved with a considerate approach to building your health.

Private 'pod' based sessions with your personal trainer

As health and fitness professionals, we're very aware that typical gym spaces often aren't appealing to women who are looking to work towards fitness goals. At Fitness Lab, we break the mould - we have personal training 'pods' that are exclusively yours when you work with your qualified personal trainer.

Everything you need for your tailored workouts can be found in your pod - including cardio and strength training equipment, as well as all those other useful items that can be hard to track down in a gym - like mats, rollers, steps, balls, and more.

Our pod-based system also means the very best use of your time. No queuing for equipment and no having to change your routine because equipment's not available. What's more, the only eyes on you will be your dedicated coach - because privacy is important for everyone.

Sessions that work around you and your unique needs

There are no membership fees at Fitness Lab - you'll pay for as many sessions as you want, and then you can use them whenever suits you. Sessions never expire either - so you'll never feel like you've got to squeeze a session in if it doesn't work for you.

This is especially useful if your work schedule is changeable, you travel with work, or - quite simply - if your body's telling you that working out isn't on the cards! Whether it's through the month or owing to different times in life, fluctuating hormone levels can have a huge impact on energy levels, focus, mood and much more.

We're always happy to adapt fitness sessions at a moment's notice to suit the way you feel day-to-day - but if you just can't face heading to the studio, it's no problem.

Prefer to work with a female personal trainer?

Some people prefer to work exclusively with female personal trainers - so if you'd be more comfortable with a female coach, we'll make sure that's exactly what happens.

Sometimes, female clients prefer to work 1-1 with a female trainer for cultural reasons. Sometimes, health issues that impact training are just easier to discuss with someone who has first-hand experience of the female body. There's certainly no pressure to explain your wish to work with a female coach - just let us know when you get in touch, and we'll make sure you're paired up with the best personal trainer for you.

Sometimes, your coach will be away - but don't worry - if you prefer working with female personal trainers, we'll make sure it's another female coach who steps in.

A proven holistic approach to weight loss

There's plenty of information online that could lead you to believe that weight loss is as simple as creating a calorie deficit - i.e. burning more calories than you use over a period of time. While creating a calorie deficit certainly has a place in losing weight - it's only part of the picture for women.

Weight loss - or, more specifically, fat loss - is something that requires attention in a range of different areas, not least the type of physical training you do, your training experience, your specific time of life, the quality of the rest you get, your unique stress levels, your level of muscle mass - and much more.

At Fitness Lab, we don't believe in drastic changes - they're hard to follow, often demoralising, and rarely stick in the long term. Instead, your coach will help you identify a series of small, manageable changes that are achievable and can be constantly built upon to help you work towards your specific goals. You'll be astounded at what you can achieve when lots of 1% changes add up!

A fresh, scientific look at what kind of training works for women

Many people are surprised to discover that 2 or 3 resistance training sessions each week will usually be significantly more effective than spin classes, running, group training, stay fit apps and other cardio-based workouts when it comes to changing what you see in the mirror.

While cardio has a place in fitness training programmes, science consistently proves that strength training plays an even more significant part in weight loss, mobility, hormone moderation, improving balance, resistance to chronic health conditions, slowing of the ageing process, improving the metabolism, and bolstering mental well-being.

As such, you might be surprised to hear that we don't want you to commit to daily sessions at our studios! Instead, a manageable number of hour-long strength training-focused sessions is far more beneficial - and gives you far more flexibility with your schedule.

We don't do "off the shelf" training programs. While these kinds of generic programs might work for some people, they don't come close to the effectiveness of a program that's built around you, your body, your goals, your schedule, your nutritional tastes, and the hundreds of other factors that make you unique.

Fitness Lab gives you access to the best personal trainers - putting together completely bespoke programs based on you, your goals and your training needs.

And don't panic - we don't expect you to be superhuman! We'll listen to your goals, we'll help you understand the science behind what we suggest, then we'll suggest a series of small but effective adjustments you can make to get you there. Radomira is a great coach. Highly motivating, fun, excellent listener, sessions with her are never boring. She know how to push people out of the comfort zone without forcing them. Rare quality for a coach. The studio itself is optimally located at the heat of Soho and is very well equipped. The concept of a coach-only gym is not common and probably the best option for anyone who take their fitness seriously.

I have been with Fitness Lab for 2 years it has been a gradual transition to strength and fitness working with my excellent trainer Ash. It isn’t a quick fix to weight loss but a longer term investment in being a stronger me. With the individual focus I just don’t have to think about having to motivate myself, or worry about whether I am using the weights correctly, Ash takes care of that and gradually pushes me to push myself.

I chose Fitness Lab because the idea of a gym with a more intimate atmosphere, free from overwhelming crowds was very appealing to me. Originally, I planned to join for just a couple of months to get ready for summer, but here I am in November, still committed! I would absolutely recommend Fitness Lab to anyone who is looking get the best PT experience in London. It really helps to be working out in a private space rather than in a public gym and the facilities and equipment are all first-rate and well-maintained. I have to give a huge thank you to my PT, Ash, who has turbo-charged my training. He has put the time, effort and his knowledge into tailoring my workouts to achieve my goals. I don't feel like I'm aimlessly working out or unsure of whether I'm doing the right thing or not anymore and the results have been fantastic. I'm improving in areas that I have always struggled with and it just makes me even more motivated. Ash always brings the right vibe so that I look forward to each session rather than it feeling like a chore. He keeps the workouts varied to make things interesting and if there is ever something I can't do because of injury then he is able to adapt when necessary.
