Maeve

“When your trainer loves the science, not the scene – that’s when you know you’ve found the right place.”
Maeve had trained with a number of personal trainers across multiple countries, so when she began searching for a new coach in London, she knew exactly what she was looking for—and what she wanted to avoid.
Maeve: “I’ve worked with all kinds of coaches and trained in a lot of places, including some of the big-name gyms. There’s often a focus on younger trainers who just don’t have the depth or breadth of knowledge I need. A lot of them lean more toward the ‘scene’ than real science.”

When Maeve came to Fitness Lab, she immediately felt things were different. From the very first session, her experience challenged everything she thought she knew about movement.
Maeve: “Every single movement we did was completely new to me. That was incredible. I’ve trained for years and still—this was on another level. My coach loves the science of it. You can tell. When you meet a trainer who’s obsessed with biomechanics and how the body actually works, it’s a completely different experience.”
Rehabilitation was the reason Maeve sought out a personal trainer. She was determined to recover and get back to the martial arts training she loves—but she also wanted to make sure her body would stay strong and functional as the years went on.
Maeve: “I started out working with a different coach before I moved to a new coach for more specialist rehab. Honestly, I was nervous. I’ve had bad handovers with other trainers before. But my trainer was brilliant from the first session. He’s really fun—but he also picked up on things no one else had. There’s a real skill to it. A lot of trainers just don’t have the confidence or insight to go that deep.”

Our approach focuses on injury prevention just as much as rehabilitation. For Maeve, it’s not just about getting back to training—it’s about long-term longevity.
Maeve: “My coach uses what he calls ‘slings’—a kind of neuromuscular approach that challenges your brain and body to work together. It forces both sides of your body to cooperate, builds balance, and strengthens the connections between different movement systems. It’s fascinating stuff, and it really works.”
The results have spoken for themselves. Maeve is back on her feet, moving with confidence—and sharing what she’s learned.
Maeve: “I’ll be bringing these exercises to my family. That’s how good they are.”
Maeve trains twice a week at Fitness Lab, working toward long-term strength and a return to the sport she loves—with a coach who’s as focused on the future as she is.
