The shoulder is unlike any other joint in your body. A number of ligaments and tendons attach each section of the shoulder to the spine – and the way we use our bodies generally means the incredible mobility this offers is more of a priority than strength or stability. As a result, naturally weaker and underworked shoulder muscles mean injuries and strains are common.

Since the upper arm bone and shoulder area is so complex, pain can be difficult to pinpoint. What’s more, the kind of complex stretches and movements needed for rehabilitation can be very difficult to get right without expert guidance.

Which kind of shoulder pain treatment will be right for you?

Without specialist knowledge and experience, occupational injuries and sports injuries in the shoulder can be very difficult to diagnose. When you come to Fitness Lab, we don’t expect you to have a particular kind of shoulder treatment in mind – instead, we’ll talk to you about your injury, complete a full assessment, and plan a a course of action together.

Sometimes, dedicated sports massage therapy, stretching, ice-packs, and some strengthening work will be enough to ease your pain. In other cases, we’ll look at specialist physiotherapy or osteopathic treatment sessions – each designed to increase your range of motion and address muscle weakness over time.

Of course, we also know our limits. If your shoulder requires medical attention or a surgical procedure, we’ll be able to identify this and talk you through what your next steps should be. Shoulder surgery is rarely required – but if you do need more specialist medical help, we’ll provide you with all our notes and diagnostic information to give your doctor or specialist a head start.

Radomira is a great coach. Highly motivating, fun, excellent listener, sessions with her are never boring. She know how to push people out of the comfort zone without forcing them. I have been with Fitness Lab for 2 years it has been a gradual transition to strength and fitness working with my excellent trainer Ash. It isn’t a quick fix to weight loss but a longer term investment in being a stronger me. With the individual focus I just don’t have to think about having to motivate myself, or worry about whether I am using the weights correctly, Ash takes care of that and gradually pushes me to push myself.

I chose Fitness Lab because the idea of a gym with a more intimate atmosphere, free from overwhelming crowds was very appealing to me. I would absolutely recommend Fitness Lab to anyone who is looking get the best PT experience in London. It really helps to be working out in a private space rather than in a public gym and the facilities and equipment are all first-rate and well-maintained. I have to give a huge thank you to my PT, Ash, who has turbo-charged my training. He has put the time, effort and his knowledge into tailoring my workouts to achieve my goals. I don't feel like I'm aimlessly working out or unsure of whether I'm doing the right thing or not anymore and the results have been fantastic.
